VISION

Text Box: Home Visit
Visitation is very important in the life of a sick person suffering from HIV/AIDS. Visit help in providing comfort through acceptance sitting together listening, talking and touching the sick person. And he/she will feel better and happy.
Visit is a sign of love and encouragement to the sick person who is being visited at home. As the HIV client physical condition deteriorate the need for home visit becomes more urgent. The same person who use to come us at the Spring of Life center now need us to go to him/her.
TEAM’s involvement in community home based care has gone a long way in fighting stigma and rejection by family members.  It’s has also encouraged many families to see the need of paying attention to the sick person.  The relationship that exists between the client and our care givers has helped corrects a lot of myths and misconceptions about HIV.  This has also help in educating other family members about HIV and how to take care of a sick person with HIV without getting infected.
Spring of Life care givers encourage, pray, treat minor ailments and assist were necessary when visiting the client.
Anti-retroviral drugs has been around but not available to our clients.  However, when the President’s Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) started providing ARVs at Evangel Hospital in Jos the number of clients accessing these drugs dramatically increased. Treatment Support Specialists and Adherence Counselors were needed to help clients adhere to the prescribed therapy.
Spring of Life is building the capacity of the Treatment Support Specialists and Adherence Councellors by debriefing them on a weekly basis and giving them new ideas for patient care and help in facing the challenges they encounter.
