STOPPING THE SPREAD, SURPPORTING THE INFECTED AND AFFECTED

Text Box: COUNSELLING TRAINING Training is another important aspect of this work of counselling. The trained staff counselors and volunteers whose capacities have been built go all the way to train church and community leaders like Local church Pastors, Christian Education Organizers, Men Fellowship, Women Fellowship and Youth Fellowship leaders. It is important to train the right people who will be influential in their communities. Community leaders who have a clear understanding on HIV/AIDS issues find it relatively easy to pass on their knowledge because of their position.  As more people get to know their HIV status it becomes increasingly important to have trained counselors at every level of church and society. Being a pioneering organization in HIV/AIDS related issues we have been able to share our knowledge and experience with others. In the course of our trainings, we have been able to build the capacity of other organizations in counselling work.
